From HymnsWithoutWords
William Kethe (d. 1594) was a Scottish Protestant Divine who escaped to Geneva in the mid 1550's to escape the religious persecutions of Queen Mary of England, which explains his familiarity with the Genevan Psalter of John Calvin. Returning to Britain after the ascession of Queen Elizabeth I in 1558, he became rector of Childe Okeford in the English county of Dorset and remained there for 40 years.
