Thomas Jarman (1776 - 1861) was an English composer of hymns. He was born in Clipstone, Northamptonshire in England, the son of a tailor. He originally trained to follow in his father’s trade, but his music was his first love. As a youth he became a member of the choir of the Baptist chapel in Clipstone and soon began writing hymn tunes and anthems and training choirs. He assembled a number of musical collections, including: Sacred Music, 1803.
