Biography
Thomas Helmore (1811 - 1890) was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England and died at Westminster in London, England. Helmore was a graduate of Magdalen College, Oxford. He was ordained as a priest in the Anglican church and became vice-principal and precentor at St. Mark’s College, Chelsea, London, where he served 35 years. In 1846 he was appointed master of the choristers of the Chapel Royal. He was considered central to the revival of Plain Chant in the Church of England.
