George James Webb (1803 - 1887)
was a British American composer and organist. Born in the Cathedral city of Salisbury in England began his career as an organist in Falmouth. At the age of 27 he emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he played the organ at the Old South Church and the Boston Church of the New Jerusalem. Together with Lowell Mason he founded the Boston Academy of Music. He died in Orange, New Jersey
