Biography

George Hugh Bourne (1840 - 1925) was born at St. Paul’s Cray, Kent, Eng­land, son of Rev. R. B. Bourne. Ed­u­cat­ed at Eton, and at Christ Church, Ox­ford he took Ho­ly Or­ders in 1863. He was appointed As­sist­ant Cur­ate of Sand­ford-on-Thames (1863 - 1865) and then Head Mas­ter of St. An­drew's Chard­stock (1866 - 1874). Warden of St. Ed­mund’s, Sal­is­bu­ry (1874 - 1885), Chap­lain to the Bi­shop of Bloem­fon­tein (1879 - 1898), Sub-dean of Sal­is­bu­ry Ca­thed­ral (1887 - 1901), and Trea­sur­er and Pre­ben­da­ry of Sal­is­bu­ry Ca­thed­ral (1901). He died at St. Edmund’s Coll­ege in 1925.
